چکیده

Missing strain,” a discrepancy between the total macroscopic strain and the strain contributed by grain boundary sliding (GBS) during superplastic deformation, appears to exist in previous investigations. In this work, the contribution of GBS (ξGBS) and intragranular strain (ξIG) were simultaneously measured using scratch test conducted on AA7475 samples after deformation at 500 °C at initial strain rate of 10−3 s−1. The result shows that the missing strain results most probably from the neglect of the intragranular strain as well as the anisotropic GBS-induced underestimation of ξGBS. The calculation of ξGBS was re-examined, based on the fact that anisotropic shrinkage of samples along width and thickness during superplastic deformation was noted.

Failure Prediction during uniaxial Superplastic Tension using Finite Element Method

Superplastic materials show a very high ductility. This is due to both peculiar process conditions and material intrinsic characteristics. However, a number of superplastic materials are subjected to cavitation during superplastic deformation. Evidently, extensive cavitation imposes significant limitations on their commercial application. The deformation and failure of superplastic sheet metals...

The Activation Energy of Superplastic Flow above the Critical Temperature for Steel CrWMn

By means of superplastic tensile test above the Ac1 temperature (γ→α transformation temperature), superplastic deformation activation energy of ultrafine-grained commercial die steel CrWMn is investigated on the basis of the Arrhenius theory equation, ) / exp( 1 RT Q A m − = σ ε& , which indicates the resistance of the superplastic deformation. According to the Arrhenius equation, the activatio...

The static grain growth of this material was modest at temperatures below 1300°C. However, dynamic grain growth occurred rapidly during superplastic deformation. Therefore, although the ultrafine-grained alumina...

High Temperature Deformation Behavior of Cr-containing Superplastic Iron Aluminide

Superplastic deformation and high temperature load relaxation behavior of coarse-grained iron aluminides with the composition of Fe-28 at.% Al have been investigated. A series of load relaxation and tensile tests were conducted at temperatures ranging from 600 to 850C. The flow curves obtained from load relaxation tests were found to have a sigmoidal shape and to exhibit stress vs. strain rate ...

Effect of ECAP Strain on Deformation Behavior at Low Temperature Superplastic Regime of Ultrafine Grained 5083 Al Alloy Fabricated by ECAP

A series of tensile testing was carried out on the ultrafine grained 5083 Al alloy, which was fabricated by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) with different ECAP strains, at low temperature superplastic (LTS) temperature of 548K. This investigation was aimed at examining the effect of the ECAP strain inducing different microstructure in the alloy on the deformation mechanisms at LTS regime....
